Someone kindly gave me the region free code for the Philips DVD player model 642, but somehow it has gone back to being region 1, maybe because of an update which I downloaded off Philips site. It was a three number code with specific instructions how to enter it. Does anyone have this please as I have some DVDs sent from the UK which once again say "wrong region." Thanks, in anticipation.

Hi, Sorry to be so long in replying. I had found that by downloading the Philips firmware update for the Model 642 that I had removed the Region Free code that someone gave me. I found that you need the 0531 firmware to be able to use the 7-8-9 OK, then 0 (zero) after first opening the tray. If you can't trace this source I can look it up for you. Good luck, GwynnusComment
