Help with TS file & ISO files

I have a few questions regarding .iso and TS Files. First off I have 3 goals when copying my DVD's

1. To burn a backup to a DVD immediately
2. To have a backup on my external HD
3. To run movies from my external HD onto my laptop while on
roadtrips. (this way I don't have to pack DVD's)

Currently I am using Ripit4me > DVDDecrypter > fixvts > dvdshrink > imgburn to create the backup on my HD. DVD Decrypter burns a TS file and then DVD Shrink burns an ISO file. I would like to know if I can delete either of these files and still achieve my goals?

1. Please use links to correct programs - I have edited them.
2. If you wanna play the files from your hard drive, they need to be there. I'd keep them in an ISO and play them with VLC player.

Thanks for getting me to the right place and correcting my links.
Why does Ripit4me create the both TS and ISO files if ISO is all I will need. What is the purpose of keeping the TS files?
Also can I use Videora Ipod Converter to convert the ISO file into ipod format?

In ISO mode, it will make an ISO for you - in other modes it will output to a VIDEO_TS folder. That is easiest if you want the whole DVD, uncompressed on your hard drive.

Keeping the files in a VIDEO_TS folder is another means of storing the files.

Think of an ISO as a container for the files (kinda like zipped files).

I'd use ffmpeg to convert (via DVD Rebuilder). I do not have experience with Videora, but search the forums.
