    problems problems

    hi all.
I just bought a dvd-rom for myself, and I have a problem, so I'd me very pleased, if someone could give me a piece of advice.

first of all, my system is:

    asus dvd-e608/g dvd-rom
    asus 7100 geforce2mx tv out
    sb live bulk5.1
    MSI K7T pro-2 motherboard
    384 MB ram
    windvd4
    powerdvd4
    win xp corp.

Some discs play fine, no problem, but most are giving me a hard time.
    Powerdvd just says:
An unexpected copy protection error has occurred. Unable to play disc.
All discs are region 2, and my drive is region free.
WinDVD plays those discs a bit better, but I can see picture very rarely, with sound the same problem.
Is this drive broken, or are you people having same kind of problems???

    Try this...

Well, first of all I would like to tell you that I have no experience with NVIDIA chipsets. However, try getting a decent OS (windows 2000 or XP) then the latest drivers for all your devices (drivers from the manufacturer not from windows) and finally get a decent decoder. I would recommend CinePlayer 4 from ravisent. It has nice picture quality, great sound, and can be tweaked to fit your system perfectly if you play a little bit with the windows registry.

By the way, before you buy the decoder try it first to see if it works well on your system, there are some sites that offer you the download of 30 day trial versions (not the ravisent site tough).
