    #2
    dimensions

    I have a PIII-600.

512x384 works perfect to me. This downscaling also helps on eliminating macroblocks when encoding larger films (+60minutes) on one CD.

The lower resultion gives you better image quality at lower bitrates. Always use the new 2-pass encoding though. It really improves the quality of the finished product. But keep in mind that encoding times will be around 8-12 hours (x2 !!!) for full movies.

When encoding 16:9 movies, I always crop the movie so that the proportions are +- 512 x 288

    Hope this info helps

    Tom
