after listening to the captured video, nero vision has an edit function
    to boost volume

now this is for vision 3?

I found it in 4 so I know it's there also

there's a check mark at the bottom of the edit screen next to the scissors

simply drag the slidder to the right

          YMMV

chewy, in theory can i repeat the process to keep getting more volume?

I experimented by just cutting(selecting) a 3 or 4 minute slice in the middle and then applying volume boost, for some I needed all the boost

never tried to encode twice tho

It is in Nero 3, that's what I use, although I forgot about that volume boost function!

Another question; what would be a good, EASY way to normalize volume of several clips, say in adding several music videos to one compilation, & getting them all the same level? The easy way?!?

Aside from introducing artefacts, likely you'll get some clipping. Not recommended.

                    For PC playback?
