Wrong region crack used

I 'inherited' a Samsung SD-616TEB, non-functioning, that apprently had had the wrong region crack applied to it - it is recognized in the BIOS and the Device Manager as the Samsung SD-608.

Is there any way to undo the crack, or reset the DVD?

The interesting thing is that you can use the flash program MTKFLASH with this drive. This program is pretty versatile so you may be able to force the flash successfully.
