can't make it region-free

Hi there, Im new to this forum.

I got a new toshiba laptop with windows vista and am trying to bypass the darned counter when I watch DVDs bought in different regions (all purchased legally must I add).

I was going through the 7 pages of The Complete Region-free Guide this site offers, downloading all kinds of programs and changing settings to succeed in making this cpu region-free. I unfortunately cant get any results...

I feel kinda desperate.

Can anyone please help me with this?

Look for some region free firmware on http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

What drive is in the laptop? To determine this, open ImgBurn, switch to read or write mode and paste the info in the top right corner.

It says the DVD drive

is a MAT-s-h-i-t-A DVD-RAM UJ-850S 1.10 (ATA).

I checked for a matching firmware but there isn't...

I know I know, this drive is a pussy; people keep telling me.





Now it's really got me depressed...

Anyone here is prophet of absolute knowledge?

What can I do!?

My research tells me that there is none, maybe somebody else has more positive news for you, the only solution being to replace it with a drive that can.

now I would list the disadvantages but it's too long a list


however you could find an external that could be updated with region free firmware and then save that matsh1ta for reloading the OS and emergency use only

Thank you chewy I think I've realized that.

As I can't make my drive region-free, I thought that by creating back-ups of my zone 2 DVDs I would sort of solve my problem.
BUt my burner did nothing but mess up my blank DVD...
I don't get how this happened and now I'm really pissed off...

An afternoon reading at the park should do me good.
