    Dvd player firmware???

    I have a new problem.I never had this problem before I have burned movies that will play on my Jvc(10years old) and my X-Box360 fine but,on my daughters Phillips they play with no color.So I bought her and my son 2 cheap ones from Walmart a Magnovox DP100MW8 and a Magnovox MWD200F and they both say "playback option not available on disc" but,I know it is because of the Jvc and 360.An accuantiance (probably spelled wrong) told me that you can DL firmware for your dvd player,burn it to a disc and it will update your player but,doesn't know exactly how just that he's sure it's an option.I am no good with firmware at all so I need to know if it's possible? Will it help? And how to go about it?

    The other day I dl'd a klite codec and I'm wondering is it what gave me this sudden problem or is it firmware issue?


    Thanks for any and all responses and please tell me like I'm 1 year old because that is as long as I've been exposed to this stuff.

      I should add that it's happening with Memorex 16x -r's ,sony Yudens,Sony 16x +r's, and Verbatim 16x -rs all burned at 4x

          it sounds more like you messed up a conversion from avi the dvd, take one of the vob's you burned and use media info to see it's characteristics
