Does WinDVD 8 allow fullscreen picture as 4 did ?

Hi, I have been running WinDVD4 on WinXP SP1 with ATA HDs fine, never any problems, but since rebuilding with SATA hard drives and SP2 from the ground up, I find occasionally WinDVD 4 locks up the PC. I like 4 simply because I can have full screen like a TV with player hidden behind, so enjoying the movie with no clutter ! You can bring the player console to the front whenever required. Also I use a lot the screen capture ability. That can fail if trying it on a frame by frame search, I reckon it likes keyframes and its ojk if its done on the fly. Before risking the latest version I wish to find out if these are still possible, I hope so, movie to the edges is surely what cinema experience is all about. Hate distracting stuff on my PC screen. Like to maximise my viewing experience.
A reviewer said he wasnt sure if player console was undockable, he thought it had been removed in version 8I guess he means move it away from the screen portion. I dont even want any metallic etc edges, just movie filling my monitor. Whats the most recent version that will give me what 4 gave, and where can I download it from ?

You can always get full screen playback, the docking and interface is more for windowed playback mode.

But I still think PowerDVD is the better player though.
