I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but I'm clueless about the jargon for this subject, so I don't know what keywords to look for. I really hope someone can help me out with this.
I've recently upgraded to WindowsXP on my Compaq PC. I've been playing DVDs on InterActual and Windows Media player. The DVDs play, but they're all jumpy.
I've tried troubleshooting, and I'm having problems that the troubleshooter isn't able to solve. The thing is, I'm getting normal sound and video, but playback seems to be pausing whenever my hard drive does anything. The little red light which indicates that my hard drive is working comes on intermittently during playback, and whenever that light is on, the picture and sound freeze temporarily.
Is there anything I can do about this that doesn't require taking it to a repair shop? Has anyone here run into this problem before?
