DVD wont play in Windows XP

I have just built a new pc & loaded windows XP pro but have found that the dvd player wont play dvds it brings up a box asking me to get a XP approved software decoder ,i used my old dvd hardware decoder a m 430 by pro comp but the system wont let me load the floppys i have with the drivers & real hollywood magic application so i have removed it but now it says i need a software decoder where can i get one for XP ??????
