2 speaker sound only Windvd 2000

    2 speaker sound only Windvd 2000

    When i use Windvd 2000 i can only get 2 speaker sound.

    All other options e.g. 4 speaker mode, 5.1 speaker mode are all greyed out
    I have a sb Live! sound card and have set up my speakers for 5.1 sound through control panel

    I also have Power DVD and get the 4 or 5.1 speaker sound through that

    What am i doing wrong?


    PS i have DVD genie and DVD tweaker and can change the number of speakers with that but these do not seem to have any effect.

      i aslo have the same problem.

      If you use power dvd you can select the right settings with no problem, the sound shall work just fine, but if you use divx or xvid you have the problem that you can't get it wide screen, only full screen.
      but if you only wanna vieuw dvd's it works just fine, i also couldn't set the sound settings right with winDVD till yesterday.
      i changed in the proporties the settings: automatic v to: show.
      then it could change the sound setting to 6 channel output, but i still don't know if that was the problem.

      Now i have the right sound (5.1) with some divx-movies ( i think only the ac3 ones)

      the rest of the movies still only gave 4 channel sound.

      This is how far i came in 3 days of troubles.
      i hope you can do something with it.

              If I remember correctly, that was a limitation of the pre-release warez crack of that now outdated version of WinDVD.

              I don't believe you'll find such a limitation with the current commercial version...

                  do you have the 5.1 surround version of the Sound Blaster Live! card?

                  cause the gamer, mp3, and other versions of the live card dont support 5.1.
