Need help, Liteon DVD, WinDVD3.0, XP

Got a Liteon DVD-ROM LTD163 GDHA, with the software
WinDVD 3.0, and I'm running Windows XP Professional.

I downloaded the rigth Firmware for my DVD (atleast I think I did) it wanted me to make a diskette and reboot the computer with the diskette in, which I did. During startup a deleting process went off and then it upgraded something, but when I run CDVDINFO, it still says I got the region lock.

What is wrong? Anybody got any clues or anything to help?
What happend during the deleting and upgrading process?

I did run CDVDINFO before trying to flash my DVD and it said:
Number of user changes left: 5
Number of manufactor resets left: 4

I just got my new DELL computer and after running the CDVDINFO I set the region for my DVDROM for the first time to the US(nr.1) region. Now CDVDINFO says:
Number of user changes left: 4
Number of manufactor resets left: 4

So it must not have worked, rigth? HELP, tell me anything of value, ANYTHING.

I wonder whether you've misunderstood the layout of the Firmware Page. It's a store of links to both "official" and patched firmware. Links alongside the drive name point to official RPC-2 (region-protected) versions. Patched firmware (RPC-1), if any, is referred to in the body of the entry. If you actually downloaded firmware, I suspect you've overwritten your existing version with the same firmware.

As I read it, there is no patched firmware as such for this drive. There is, however, an "RPC-1 Utility" which has the effect of switching off region protection. Don't have this drive but from what I've read the utility works well so I suggest you give it a try.

In a way you're lucky. You should never ever flash patched firmware to a drive before you've set it to a region by first playing a DVD in the normal way.
