dvd-rw and dvd-r

Hi Everyone
Ime a newbie here but have used dvd flick for some time,but I have a problem with it that I hope someone can help me with.

What happens is that if I use a dvd-r disc it goes through all the processes of creating the disc and then the img burn but then gives me an I/O error,see attachment.
But if I use a dvd-rw disc,it works perfectly!!
I have tried playing with the settings and even tried a dvd rom from another pc, but still the same.

Can anyone help me with this problem

You tend to get errors when you set video converters to burn right at the end of a conversion. It's better to set it to ouput VIDEO_TS folder. Check it with a software player that the conversion was complete. If everything looks good, burn the VIDEO_TS folder with Imgburn. It should automatically set the parameters for a DVD video when it sees the folder is named VIDEO_TS. Just accept them and click OK.

Don't know what burner you have but I've been using only DVD+R and DVD+RW erasables for several years. You can get deals on DVD-R because they are trying to unload them. Once you know which make DVD+R burns well in your system you can get a spindle online to reduce the cost.

My best guess is that drive is fairly old for today's new media. Looks like last Firmware update was in 2006.
Your dvd-rw's burn slower. Looks like it would like 8X media for best results for a regular single layer disc.

Hi There.
Many thanks for your advice.Looks like I will have to get a new dvd rom but I will try the dvd+r discs first.only problem with that is that my dvd player linked to my tv only accepts - discs and not + discs!!
Time to pull my hair out aaaarrrrgg!!!!!

Some of the older players are like that even if you booktype to DVD-ROM. Looks like your burner will handle either + or -. I am guessing the disc's that gave you the error were 16X. 8X would be a better option of media it would seem.

My TV DVD player is a Panasonic and the manual says the only burnable disks it will play are DVD-R or DVD-RAM.

my DVD burner in my PC will allow me to booktype DVD+R or DVD+RW to DVD-ROM and thus tricking my Panasonic player since it thinks it is a DVD-ROM as that is what I bitset or booktyped the DVD files with ImgBurn.
