Hello all, I have been at it the last couple of days, doing research and trying to figure out my situation. This is my first post, read the rules and all so hopefully someone can shed some light on my situation. So here it is, I have some old movie files on a desktop that i want to burn to a DVD, to playback virtually in any DVD player. I have tried a few programs and have actually converted the avi into what would seem to be a "movie file" with a AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS, and when i pop it in my laptop in instantly plays with a menu and all just like i created. heres the problem, when i pop it in my PS3 it doesnt even recognize it, and the only DVD player i have to test on currently is pretty old and has a VHS casset player attached, lol but thats my DVD player and it doesnt recognize it either>> So ive tried an assortment of programs, i have burnt like 4 bad DVDs, and i have been searching this site and many more for help and i just cant seem to figure it out.... well any suggestions would be so appreciatied
Help Please! and THANKS!!

Looks like you've actually created the DVD files, but it's the burning process that's causing you problems.
I would try using ImgBurn to burn your DVD, here's a guide on how to do it to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a playable DVD:
How to write DVD Video files directly to single layer media using ImgBurn - ImgBurn Support Forum
(the guide above is for burning single layer discs, but if you need to burn a dual-layer one, try this guide: How to write DVD Video files directly to double layer media using ImgBurn - ImgBurn Support Forum).
As a general tip, DVD-R media is more compatible than DVD+ media on older DVD players (there are ways to get around this, such as changing the book type of the disc, more guides here: Guides - ImgBurn Support Forum). -
Just wanted to stop by an say thanks, Turns out i was using +R so though trials and tribulations ive come to accept my old DVD/VHS combo has got to go. Glad it all worked out, and welcome to the forum.
You can still get DVD+ media to work on your old DVD player though, you just need to change the book type to "DVD-ROM", assuming your DVD writer drive supports it.Comment
