That is the sensible thing to do...

LOL. I do believe ffmpeg/mplayer (which is undoubtedly what ConvertX uses) is mostly developed under Linux.

this avi(51 minutes) when converted is only 24 minutes long with flick
So it only outputs the first 21 minutes, or does it play fast, or does it just show the incorrect length? Try re-muxing the original file with Avi-mux GUI and run it through Flick again.

how can you tell what convertx is using? way faster

my fps go up 50% or more with it

the flick conversion just stops half way thru and thinks it's finished, no errors

test them yourself, using some heavy duty internal codecs(convertx)

                Hi Chewy,

Can you try your mystery AVI conversion with FAVC ... I am curious what happens.

                G!

It would take a very long time to write decoders/splitters for so many formats, and even longer to bug test and optimize them. In order to have some reliability (and avoid DirectShow), apps take what they need from ffmpeg. Plus I recall seeing ffmpeg being mentioned in the changelog.

                  way faster
Likely just different parameters to what DVD Flick uses. There is also the possibility it is using a different MPEG2 encoder.

Well, I guess you saw this:

                      ConvertXtoDVD 2.1.1.151

                      - contains latest build of ffmpeg
But no sign of another MPEG2 encoder.
