I don't know, you're getting a little too technical for me. When it was installed, it was plugged in using those cables that were available. I didn't know there was another way. You are dealing with a computer novice here.

I figured out how to make the movie I originally wanted to make. I was able to convert my AVI file using DVD Flick into DVD format. From there, after looking into the IMGBURN program when you asked me to, I tried to burn the file straight away but it told me it didnt support that and to change it into an ISO file which I have never heard of. After I converted it to ISO format, the ImgBurn program burned the disc for me in DVD format and my DVD player can now recognize the disc. But I still dont get why I just couldn't do it straight from the DVD Flick program.

well you are doing it the best way now, I prefer to save the output from flick to my hard drive then check the files or burn manually and then check

optimally your computer should be reconfigured either in bios or the drive hooked to another controller?

that old sony drive is a liteon 1673? if i am not mistaken

and for better firmware you would have to go thru there

sorry there's no more user friendly options available, this durn stuff is rocket science/brain surgery when you first get started, but not too bad after a while
