    DVD FLICK and Out-Of-Sync Audio?!!

I've used DVD FLICK to create maybe 20 good sets of DVD files out of MPEG-2 files.

Suddenly, I produced a set of DVD VOBs (etc) that have out-of-sync audio. I ran the MPEG-2 thru Win Media Player and a couple of other players - good, in-sync audio. But once I pull up the resulting DVD FLICK VOBs, it's out of sync by more than a second from beginning to end.

Hmmm... I'm hoping this is some aberation, caused by the coming of Halley's Comet or lycanthropia or something.

Defragging the disk and rerunning DVD-F didn't solve it - same out-of-sync issue. Hmmm - let's copy it to another computer and try it! Oops - same result. Jeepers.

But the next DVD-F project created good DVD Files. I wonder why that one MPEG-2 and DVD FLICK hated each other?

I think I'm seeing a pattern. If I adjust my audio level, I end up with out-of-sync audio. If I leave it at 100%, my audio sync is just fine.

This would be understandable if I was running this on a single-core CPU and DVDFlick required audio adjustment on the 2nd core, but, oh well...

At least I've found a way to keep the audio in-sync. I really liked the idea of being able to up the volume a bit, though.

      try adjusting these 2 settings

      encoder priority, try low

and thread count, unless it's already 1

CH, thanks for those tips. It's now several weeks since your reply, and I've been running DVD FLICK across some 30-odd 4-6Gb MPG-II files with these suggestions, but achieving little success.

But I've even lowered the processing priority down to IDLE sometimes to see if this produced a better in-sync capability - alas, no. I'd boosted the priority higher before without a change in behavior, but without your suggestion, I'd never thought to lower it or the thread-count. Thanks for those tips.

You should realize that I found DVD FLICK because I was looking for an MPEG-II "fix" program. Occasionally, my MPEG-II TV recordings (from ATI All In Wonder cards) have failed when Nero VisionExpress refused to continue its normal processing due to some error.

DVD FLICK let me continue processing but it's resulting DVD files had this out-of-sync issue.

So, I'm naturally suspicious of the originating MPEG-II file. That DVD Flick isn't my Be-All/End-All MPEG-II fixer isn't such a big deal. I was hopeful, but since when does anyone stop searching for new solutions to old problems?

FAVC looks great but it doesn't support MPEG-II, only AVIs, and I was always less impressed with ATI's version of "AVI" than I have been with their MPEG-II generator. Yeah, hard to believe but true. Format Conversions are packages I've tried before and always detect lessened quality so I generally rule those out. FAVC looks great, though - thanks for the tip, though.
