Problem with color on DVD to VCR conversion

I have a Daewoo 5800 Macrovision free DVD player. I am trying to record from DVD to VCR. I have composite video and bitstream audio running out of my DVD player in to the Video 2 slot of my TV. Going out from my TV, I have a gold RCA cable coming from the video and a normal RCA coming from the audio to the VCR. I can get picture to record but it is in black and white. I have a very old VCR, the other components are new. Does anyone have an idea what I need to do. Is there a special video cable that I should use to get all of the colors?

    Thanks

Cassdog, are you using a Region 1 disc on a region 2 player? This maybe why it is in b&w.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

      Question about VCR?

Nah it was the Lord of the Rings DVD. I'm going to try and adjust a few things and see if I can get it to work. Let me know if anybody has any information. I may need to get a new VCR. Does anyone recommend a cheap stereo vcr model that they have found to record from DVD to VCR with good quality.
