    Help disabling Macrovision Ti500/DVD-114

Can anyone help me disable Macrovision ? I tried flashing my Pioneer DVD-114 so I could use a freeware Macrovision disabler, but I kept getting an "No drive present" error under WinXP(pro) . I'm running a Geforce Ti500. I've always had a problem with several DVD'. Due to Macrovision, I've been unable to play several titles, most notably, Sopranos (ALL THREE sets). It won't even play on my screen, forget about the TV out. Using Region-Free, I was finally able to play it last night. Usually I just play DVD's on my stand alone player, but sometimes I like watching movies on the computer next to my bed. I also got interested in the "extras" touted on the box sets that REQUIRE you to use a PC. I've always found it odd that WB would release a title with features directly aimed at playback on a PC then make it impossible to do so by crippling it with Macrovision. While I don't mind too much using a software approach, I'd much rather circumvent what I can in hardware and then use a specialized program for the rest. i.e making the drive RPC-1 then using a seperate smaller program just for Macrovision etc.

I hope your drive is still o.k. but i've never heard that you should
need to flash a drive's firmware to disable Macrovision, this is
mostly done only for the region "problem" but the Macrovision
problem is done purely only by software, checkout www.dvdrhelp.com , and you know it all !
    Thanks,

    David.

My drive is fine. Unfortunately I've tried flashing iy but it won't do so under Xp. Despite this flashing your BISO isn't needed for software fixes to this, the software just intercepts the macrovision code, doesn't do anything to the harddrive itself, so there's no danger of "harming" the drive.
