Unable to watch a rented dvd on my computer because of TV out

    I run windows 98 se.
    I have a LG 16xdvd 53x24x52x - combo.
There is 256mb mem and a 1.8gh processor.
The computer was supplied with Powerdvd xp 4.
If I rent/hire a dvd to watch, I get the message that it will not allow me to watch the movie because the 'tv out' is enabled.
I have contacted my supplier - who though willing does not seem to be able to help.
I have contacted Powerdvd - who last reply tells me to get hold of an old version of the driver for Powerdvd to solve the problem.
There has to be a better way of handling this.
    Can someone please suggest

The following MAY be pertinent to your situation:

There have been several postings over the past few months regarding this specific matter. The solution is to download and install the older NVidia driver(s)...

"The 41.09 and future drivers have more stringent checks in the driver to comply with the latest Macrovision requirements. If the TV encoder does not support Macrovision, you will get the "Macrovision Distribution Failed" error message or a similar message depending on which DVD software player you are using. The BT868 and Conexant CX25870 TV encoders do not support Macrovision. If your graphics card is equipped with one of these TV encoders, then it will not support DVD playback with our 41.09 drivers and above."

Thankyou for the thought. I will look for some old drivers on the internet.
It would seem however that neither the equipment suppliers - LG electronics dvd drive- nor the card suppliers nvidia - are providing the product that they are purporting to sell.
If it does not work, why advertise that it does?
