2 Problems: AVI playback on TV, & Encoding problem

I have a Realmagic Hollywood Plus card which allows me to playback video from my computer onto my TV. Last week a poster directed me to http://www.divx-digest.com/software/index.html#players, where I downloaded DivXPlus which allows me to play DivX movies on my TV through the Hollywood+ card. Here comes my question, when I watched the DivX movies on my TV, it seems to get caught up on sceens where there is alot of action or movement in the scene, which causes it to play kind of jerky. When I play the same DivX movie on my computer it doesn't have that problem. I have a Pentium III 733 mhz, 384 or so MB Ram. Is the source of the poblem my cpu?, the realmagic hollywood plus card?, or the DivXPlus player? If I upgraded to the XCard would the problem be solved? Also I use the DivX 4.12 codec. (On a side note, I would use the DivX 5 codec but my computer only seems to work with Xmpeg with the 4.12 codec b/c it allows me to limit the max cpu useage to a certain %, which keeps my computer from crashing. With all the others GordianKnot, DVD2AVI, etc I can limit the priority but my cpu still crashes.. so I stick with xmpeg and DivX4... If anyone can shed some light on the problem I'm having there that would be greatly appreciated.... think it's a problem with my cpu getting too hot?) Any feedback on my multiple questions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't know for certain about the video problem, though it could be directly related to the fact that you are limiting the cpu usage. I can tell you that I think it's quite likely that the instability problem is indeed the cpu getting too hot. What you NEED to do is get a better heatsink and fan, but what you could do as a very cheap and somewhat easier solution, at least, temporarily until you get a new heatsink+fan, is to underclock that cpu by some slight amount. Lowering the multiplier by .5 might do the trick if you can do that. Consult your motherboard's manual for information about that. The cpu would go slower, but wouldn't produce as much heat.
