    Acceptable AVI resolution

I know this is incredibly subjective, but what would you consider to be an acceptable resolution for avi files? I watch on a 29" TV via s-video cable from PC. I have watched 650X3?? and this was fine. I've watched 350X256 and this was no good. Any other thoughts? Just don't want to bother downloading files that are too low res.

Just my pref but when I encode I don't go below 572xXXX. If I can't get acceptable results without going below I bump to 2 cds to get more bitrate and higher res. If I go below, the results look crappy on my 35" tv.

      res

Thanks for that - I'm about to try one at 480x2?? to see the difference. However I have also been doing some reading and realise that bit is as (if not more) important...I will keep experimenting!
