    .avi

whenever i try to view a mediafile (avi, mpg, asx etc...), regardless of which media player I'm using; and believe me, I've tried many - however, the result is always the same; i get "Application has encountered a problem and needs to close.." etc.. you know what i mean.

Like I said, i get this message regardless of which player I'm trying to view the files in - why is that?

It seems like the error is generated from the .avi-files, since I get this errormessage every time.

has anyone experienced anything like this before, and what is the solution?

I'm running winXP PRO. Everything used to be hunky dory, but now everything is completely ****ed up.

note: i get the error regardless of what file im trying also: .mp3, .wav etc...
