    Inverse Telecine

    Hi all,

Having trouble with an interlaced source and would like to perform IVTC. I read a guide on Purpleman's page (basically matches post on doom's web site word for word) and found what looked like a method to perform PERFECT IVTC (which is what I'm after). However, several Typo's and omissions leave me very unclear on how to actually accomplish the job.

Was wondering if anyone had some clarification and/or an alternate method that provided at least close to perfect results when attempting to get rid of interlaced artifacts in my projects.

    TIA,

What is the format of the video file that you're trying to clean up?

If it's .AVI, you can get rid of the extra little horizontal lines (the gift from interlaced videos) by loading it into VirtualDub and selecting "Deinterlace (internal)" from the "Filters" listing under the "Video" dropdown menu.

If it's MPEG, you can accomplish the same thing by selecting "Deinterlace" from the "Advance" tab (after clicking on the "System" radio button.

As far as I know, Inverse Telecine is only used for converting a Non-Interlaced source from 30 frames per second to 24 frames per second.
