    TMPGEnc

I'm using TMPGEnc to compress an .avi file from a digital video camera. When I specify the size to 720 x 480 it always ends up enlarged. So I have to choose 50% size in Windows Media to view it at the normal size. I also tried it at 320 x 240 and a whole bunch of other sizes and it's too big every time. Any ideas?

In TMPGEnc, enter the desired resolution under BOTH the "Video" and "Advanced" tabs (after setting the "Video Arrange Method", under the "Advanced" tab, to "Center [Custom Size])...

I set it to 720 x 480 in both the video and advanced tab. It still came out too big.

Increase your DESKTOP resolution (to 1280x1024 or 1024x768)...

It's already on 1024 x 768. All the other resolutions made the entire screen really small. Are there any other programs that can convert dv .avi?

This is also really weird, because on my old computer I had TMPGEnc (same version) and never had a problem like this. It always converted perfectly without messing with any settings.
