Showing my ignorance here ;( need some help with 4.7 gb dvd copy

    Hi all,
I went looking for an answer and google sent me here
I just purchased a Ricoh DVD +RW for my pc.
    This is what I bought

    My question.
I know how converting DVD to mpeg or Divx is done.
What I want to do is make true copies now, because I don't have a size limitation now.

What software will let me copy from my 16x dvd to my Ricoh so that I can just play the new DVD +R in a stand alone player for my entertainment system?

I wasn't sure if using DirectCd or Nero would validate a copy to be played in a regular DVD player.
    Sorry about my ignorance
    Thanks for all answers.

    BTW About the drive:
I bought the drive at a Sam's Club in my local area.
It was repackaged and sold under the "Verbatim" brand name.
My wife only paid $265 for it. it was a birthday and Christmas gift for me for this year

    Seems pretty quick .
I was able to copy all my installation files, Office 2000, XP Sp 1 and a large assortment drivers and other programs onto a single disk. Total was 3.2 GB.
What was inportant about that was when I closed the DVD +R my regular DVD drive for my pc was able to see and access the data. That's just fantastic for upgrading for new installs of pc's that have a dvd drive.

Read the guides at doom9.org and search this forum as well for relevant posts.

DVD-to DVD copy is a little tricky. Some dvd's are "dual layer" (>4.7 gb so not alll dvd's may fit unless you re-encode, or take out scenes). You would also have to check to see if your standalone dvd player supports the dvd+r/rw formats.
