    Help me on MPEG1 !!!

    It is diffusion opinion that video capture in MPEG1 is bad quality...
    but i think that if the final risult is burn VCD why i must capture with another codec and then for make VCD recodec in MPEG1 ???is not good idea....is it true?
    and then how can i do for capture in MPEG1 ?
    Is there a codec free download for this ?

    Maybe because capturing and encoding (in software) uses more of the CPU time and may result in dropped frams! but that can happen with any codec.

    I capture in MPEG1 and have no complaints about it (built into the capture card).

    If you can (space/speed on HDD and OS that can deal with >4gig files) then capture raw video then convert.

    I believe that if you capture with one codec that it may compress the video to some level. So if you compress a compressed video file, you will have lost some of the origionals detail.. Maybe if you capture at hi-res and minimal compression then the detail would be as good as if you compessed from the origional.


    But thats only what i think.
