Where do I post queries about the forum itself?

Just wondering why everyone's IP addresses are displayed in each post.. I mean isn't that rather unncessary, to say the least?

Nah I'm always on 56k but I just thoguht it was strange. Out of courtesy more than anytihng else IP addresses are normally not blatantly shared.
As it happens, in the thread I noticed it in I'm actually recorded with different IP addresses for differnet posts so I suspect your suggestion wouldn't work anyway...

This forum (General Discussion) probably the best place to post forum related posts.

I have turned off the option to display IP addresses, although IP addresses will still be logged (for security reasons).

thats why i said that cause on 56k evrytime you dial up..your ip changes but if you have cable or dsl it always stays the same.so if you were to have broadband and didnt want to be tracked..just use dial up when necessary.

Yep, no worries, that's perfect. THanks.

John, okay sweet, I must have slightly misunderstood your suggestion.

If you're worried about security, I suggest you install a good firewall program - you might be surprised at how many times your computer's ports are being scanned and probed (especially if you're on a broadband/permanent Internet connection).

A good virus scanner is also essential.

Yeah nah it's not security.. got a good firewall in front of the DSL & a proxy server for the dial-up.. just more the principle more than anything..
