dolby prologic mp3???

i know mp3 is stereo but is that all??? will by prologic reciever pick up any rear/center chanel off an mp3 encoding of a 5.1 ac3 file?? i'm guessing no but i was just wondering

MP3 is definitely stereo. Always. When it comes to Dolby Prologic, the receiver will pick up the STEREO material and split it into the surround channels. While this works pretty fine, it is far from perfect and nowhere close to true Dolby (5.1) material.

And to answer what you may ask; no. The receiver will not "pick up any rear/center chanel off an mp3 encoding of a 5.1 ac3 file." It simply picks that stereo MP3 file and simulates the surround sound.

so by simulated surround you mean a faint echo in the background like it does with all my audio cd's in surround mode, a slighty delay and quieter version of the original stereo sound....ok i got ya...thks
