mpg plays shorter

After downloating some mpeg files i noticed some reproduction errors (mediaplayer 6.4 but also ATI file player).

The time bar shows a total duration of few seconds (10-20 up to 1 min it depends on the file) despite it is really longer.
When the cursor that shows the actual play time reaches the (wrong) end, the video freezes but audio still goes on.
At this point if I click randomly on time bar i can see part of the video that are after the freeze point.

If i load the file in FlaskMPG i can see the whole movie correctly.

How can i fix that? I'd like not to recompress the file!

maby you could try to do direct stream copy in virtual dub

if that does not work i do not think there is another solution then encode the file again

I cannot do a direct stream copy since the file is mpeg and Virtualdub outputs only avi.... or maybe I d'ont know... is there the possibility?

I think I'm going to recompress... thankyou anyway.
