    old computer

sorry to post one right after another but i have another quick question. i have an old server that i wanted to set up for ripping and encoding. it is quad pentium pro 200mhz with a bunch of scsi harddrives. i was wondering if this would encode really fast cause it does have 4 processors and lots of ram and scsi harddrives. any way does virtual dub, gknot and dvd2avi support multiple processors. and i tried to set it up but i got lots of crashes and erros in dvd2avi. its running windows 2000 and i have everything needed installed.

AFAIK encoding GordianKnot will at most use 2 processors one for decoding and filtering and another for enconding.

So to answer your question, no encoding on this machine will still be relativly slow.

To get DVD2AVI working, make sure you got DirectX8 installed.

        I'am not sure.
It might be that DVD2AVI uses MMX instructions. If I recall correctly the Pentium Pro does not have this.
