I believe (not 100% sure) TMPGENc (plus) or CCE can do this.

I need this for adding subtitles to my dvds.

I think to rip the dvd and then to convert the ripped files to
mpeg2 with TMPGenc . Then i intend to use a dvd authoring tool like Junior DVD in order to add the additional subtitles.

Do you think this procedure will work?

any other tips or suggestions ?

            thanks i appreciate it . . .

will there be any loss of quality ?

Re-encoding theoretically always causes a reduction in quality. However, if done properly any quality deterioration may be insignificant.

If you intend to re-encode, I suggest you pay a visit to doom9.org, read the guides there and search the forum.

If you want to create an mpeg-2 file I highly recommend dvd2svcd A neat and easy to use, plus high configurable freeware.

                thank you but ....

is there a way to add additional subtitles to a DVD
                without re-encoding?

                i will visit the site.
