remove light from video

I captured a short movie from a cam. But there is to much light. Is there a way to reduce the light effect?

yeh, simply load the file in virtualdub, and select a few filters, like brightness, reduce it and also, increase the contrast....but it won't be perfect,

Well I did try that. but the yellow on it stayed very bright almost white. it has a too strong lightsource on one side. Is it possible to reduce only the lightsource on the movie? So that the yellow seems real yellow.

Try lowering the colour saturation and/or contrast...

Try experimenting with either VirtualDub's internal "Levels" filter, or Donald Graft's "Red/Green/Blue" filter for VirtualDub...
