Avi Mpg Conversion

Hello all!

I have a couple of series in .avi format.
I'd like to convert this to mpg but i want them to have the same quality as the .avi's. I am using TMPEnc. please write how to do this. such as:

rate control mode
Mpg1 or mpg2
dc component precision and so on, a complete walkthru would be nice, Thanks for your time.

Inevitably as a consequence of re-encoding you will lose quality. Furthermore, if you decide to create a vcd/svcd the resolution will also be reduced.

I would suggest searching the doom9.org forum or reading the guides there and visiting vcdhelp.com for tips on how to obtain the highest quality in TMPGEnc (For instance, what if any filters to apply, changing search precision to "high", 2 pass encoding, etc....)
