Is it possible to get widescreen output?

I have been using tmpgenc to convert divx avi to avi using tmpgenc.

I have no problem with the video, sound, burning to disk and the disks do work on my standalone

I have one problem...

I cannot get the film not to look stretched! Its as if i need to add the black top and bottom borders to the film to get it to look right, which I dont know how to do!!! Please help.

I have tried using 1:1, also, I have tried specifying the advanced property of the "specify your own aspect ratio" - 640 x 272 See bottom of the page for the full spec of the video from an aviinfo program. This stretches it too!! I know the standard size for vcd is not Widescreen!! Oh No .... someone explain

Try the following in TMPGEnc:

Click the "Video" tab and change applicable settings to: 352X240 (PAL 352x288), 4:3 (NTSC or PAL as appropriate) 525 Line. Click the "Advanced" tab and change applicable settings to: "16:9 Display", "Center (Keep aspect ratio)", and 352x240 (PAL 352x288).
