Picture Larger Than Screen?

I have recently acquired a computer with a DVD-Rom in it. I have installed a couple of different players and each exhibits the same problem. The movie is larger than the viewable area of the players, even in fullscreen. I am missing about the right hand 1/4 of the movie/menu. I have tried maximusdvd, interactual and windows media player, with many different disks. I have directX 9. OS is XP Pro. The movies seem to play fine but just missing the right hand portion. Its as if the movie is not centered in the viewable are Any suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

Right click anywhere on your desktop go to properties click settings tab lower the screen resolution to 800 by 600 pixels click apply..now try it

I did that. It makes no difference. I downloaded a trial version of blazedvd and it plays the movie correctly, but wont let any other players play the movie. So I uninstalled it.

Try PowerDVD or WinDVD.
