divx to video

I own a Geforce II MX 400...

...and I would like to copy some of my divx-avi´s on video. Is it possible to put the signal directly from a software player on my tv-out? I tried tools like tv-tool, but I the tool is made for viewing directly on TV and not for copying on a videorecorder.

Can anybody help me?

if you want it on VHS, put it up on the TV, and then record it using a VCR as if it were a regular show
