MPEG problem: movie starts choking after 20 minutes

I've got this movie of around half an hour, the beginning of it is fine but after 20 minutes or so first it starts choking (stops and then plays again) and then halts the player and machine. How can I fix this?

one more thing - in Windows media player I can go around the whole movie, let's say I pull the bar all the way to the 26th minute - it will play and then choke after a minute or so

try the FFDSHOW filter, or get divfix and rebuild the index for frozen frames

can't use the divfix since the movie is mpeg(type 1 I think) - and when I try to convert it from mpeg 2 avi the program says "error undefined option - " any ideas why this happens?

I haven't tried the other one - what does it do?

Try using TMPGEnc as follows:

TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut
Save with a new filename
