making LOTR two towers vcd
O.K I had some trouble with this one but it is possible.
firstly: the video is Xvid and the audio is mp3 at 135 kbits/s
I have also seen a version with ac3 (the dvd screener one I think).
the first thing you should do is extract the audio out of the avi. I use AVI info.
this will create a file with the wav extension but it is NOT a real wav. its actually an mp3 or ac3.
so find out which it is and rename the file.
now you want to convert the audio to wav.
if its mp3 I use MP3toWAV. if its ac3 I use Clier's ac3 tool
so now you should have a wav file around 1.24 gig or so.
you could merge and encode them in TMPGENc but the audio and video will be out of sync.
load up virtualdub or nandub
select your video file
video-direct stream copy
audio direct stream copy
select wav audio
browse and get your big wav you made
if you have the dvd screener file there is a disclaimer at the begining that does not account for audio time so you will need to go to the interleaving section of the audio tab of virtualdub and put in a 250 ms delay in the audio skew correction part. You only need to do this
for the first file of the movie.
now run virtual dub to mux the wav and video.
check the resulting file. the audio might be streched out a little and therefore out of sync at the end. if it is load up avi info
and go to the sync tab
you should not need to change the frame rate more than 0.002 or 3 apply your changes to see the difference
save when sync is acheived
Now you can run it through tmpgenc
I reccomend doing a 2 pass vbr if you have the screener file
if your picture is upside down try to swich the order of the feild. in settings go to the advanced tab and try to swich to the opposite of what gave you the problem. you can encode one minute to see if it works.
remember vcd = 352 x 240 and 41000 audio. frame rate is 29.97 for usa
25 for pal
if the picture is still upside down turn your tv over on its top
