    DivX -> VCD question

    I cut up my DivX using VirtualDub, then used Nero to burn as a VCD. Problem is, during playback, the picture is flipped upside down. Any fix for this?

    did you encode it as svcd or vcd? If it is svcd, Your dvd player might not support it. Try encoding your file with TMPGEnc and try vcd, then if you want better quality for less compatiblilty, make an svcd.

      I didn't encode it, I just split the AVI and used Nero to burn. It automatically converts to VCD and then burns.

        that is probably the problem. Nero doesn't have the best encoding, but it can burn an encoded .mpg file without encoding.
        what you need:
        TMPGEnc
        nero
        your original video file.
        Open up your file in TMPGEnc and use the wizard for simplicity.
        1} make a vcd using the ntsc(or pal if your in pal world)
        use the film setting if the source is 23.976fps, or normal ntsc if it is at 29.97.
        2} Next and next again
        3} check how big it will be at this screen, you may be able to alter the bitrate...
        4} uncheck the "start encoding immediatly"
        5} "settings" in the lower right hand corner.
        6} If this is a widescreen movie, use the 4:3 525line (or 625 line pal) If this is a 16:9 letterbox, use the approriate 16:9. or if it is a 1:1...
        7} file-->preview. see if this is what you want to see in the tv. remember there will be no sound an then encode.
