I converted a small part of a ripped DVD-movie in DivX (with FlaskMPEG using DivX codec 5), and it seems to play fine in the DivX player 2.0. But when I tried to play the same file in WMP, I only got the sound, but no image. It interpreted the file like an mp3 one. Strange thing is that when I play a downloaded, full DivX movie (it's a pretty old one though, codec 3.11 I suppose), everything works fine. GSpot doesn't tell me anything, all codecs should be installed properly... Any sugestions? Thanks
No video in WMP 8

This is what GSpot says: (see Attachment)
I don't have VirtualDub, so I haven't checked it...

It would seem DivX 5 codec is installed. I'll asume it's 5.02
Download VirtualDub and see if you can open the avi.

here are the results...
Perhaps there's a simple answer, the file is to small, or I should convert the entire dvd?
Thx for your efforts.Attached FilesComment

Seems ok.
The only other thing I can think of is video overlay.
Assuming the avi is created correctly, which it looks like it is, try reinstalling your video card.

I don't believe it's the video overlay: WMP doesn't even try to portray any image, it just plays the file like a mp3-one, with a big image of a musical note in the middle. And since I haven't had any problem with this, I think it's highly unlickely. It seems to me that it's just WMP that plays the file with some kind of codec of its own, and doesn't use the DivX-codec. Perhaps if I reinstall WMP that it would work, but since it isn't really my priority, I suppose time will tell... But anyway, thanks for all your advise.Comment
