Can anyone tell me how I can remove all divx codecs from my computer so that I can reinstall all of them from scratch? I have had some problems with encoding to divx so I would like to remove everything and reinstall them, but by running the uninstall it doesn't remove all of the files, I can still play back divx movies, so is there any way of completely wiping all the files?

The most efficient way would be to re-install windows, so in other words format the drive that your OS is on.Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

Also search on the whole Digital-Digest website:

Hi niceonedave. This procedure is suggested for the removal and reinstallation of codecs that you suspect may be damaged, assuming that you are running a Windows O/S:
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel
2. Double-click Multimedia, click Devices tab, and then double-click Audio Compression Codec or Video Compression Codec to expand
3. Click the codec that you want to remove and click Properties
4. Click Remove, click Yes, and then restart your computer
I was able to remove the Divx 5.0 Codec fro my rig this way (Windows 98, not SE).
Codecs that have been successfully installed that are non-native to Windows, such as XviD, installed their own uninstall program in my experience. I uninstalled the XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec this way and the other way.
Hope this helps you.
