acm failed to suggest audio decompression format

i get an error in nandub when opening a xvid/ac3 encoded file
the error is "acm failed to suggest audio decompression format"

i was hoping to convert the ac3 to single channel mp3 to shave a few megs off the file without messing the vid up

    any ideas anyone?

You can't directly convert the AC3 audio in the AVI with nandub. Do the following method instead.

Extract the AC3 file from the AVI, by doing the following:
    1. Open AVI in nandub
    2. Set Audio tab to Direct Stream Copy
    3. Go to File -> Save WAV... and give a name to the new file. The file will be an AC3 file, albeit with a WAV extension. Simply rename it back to AC3.

Now that you have the AC3 file, input it into BeSweet for conversion to WAV or MP3. Mux the new audio file with the original AVI using nandub.

      cheers that worked fine ,

but i went down the route of stripping the audio to wav , as i
was having trouble recombing the audio as an mp3 for some
reason. then running vdub to recompress

      cheers
