    Bin / Cue

Can someone explain bin and cue files to me (with respect to vcd). I have been wondering for some time what these files do, what they are for, and how they work. How are they encoded. Are they better than standard vcd and how. Are they worth learning to encode or are they just a pita? Anyone opinons, ideas, links.

    thanks

You need to extract the files using Isobuster then burn them to a CD using Nero's Video CD feature

"Can someone explain bin and cue files to me (with respect to vcd)."

Quite simply, they are an image file, just like an .iso or .nrg image file, except these are bigger and have more correction options. The only reason why you would associate them with an svcd is that the image might be of exactly that - an svcd. However, it can always be a vcd too.

theres no need to extract with isobuster. a bin file is an image file, containing raw data, the cue file contains the file structure of the bin.
all you need to do is go into nero, or any other burning prog, and go to burn image and select the cue, it should be fairly straightforward from there.

if you don't have the cue, or you want to check the bin to make sure its not corrupt, you can use a prog called daemon tools. its a virtual cd drive that can load bin, cue, iso, nrg, etc.. as if they were regular cds put into a regular cd drive in your computer. then if you want to burn it you just use the cd copy option in the burning prog and select the virtual drive as the source.

I like Alcohol 120% better because Daemon has some things that might interfere with Nero or Easy CD Creator
