How do i rip a DVD to my Mp4 player?

i have no clue what to do. some one tell me a program to download. i need something that i can just pop in my dvd and copy it to my mp4 player.

how large of files can your MP4 player handle? First of all you are going to have to rip and encode because DVD's are MPEG-2

Are you trying to use a *.MP4 containter?

Oops I forgot about the MP4 thing. Can you convert AVI to MP4? I'm not sure

Yeap. It just a container for video like avi or ogm. NOT a codec as is commonlly mistaken.
Get MPEG4IP 0.9.7.6 which will multiplex any mpeg-4 iso video (eg DivX 5 or stable XviD) and mp3 or acc sound to a MP4 stream. Most MP4 players should play this fine. Well, at least for me.

well its a archos multimedia 20. it can play divx too.

Well if it can play DivX (AVI Files) then just rip and encode then transfer it to your player and you will be ready to go!
