    Can TV with DVD read burned CD-ROMs?

    I have problem with Thomson 24WT25ES television with DVD. I tried various type of CD-ROMs burned with various format but it seems that this television read only, for me expensive, CD-RW (except original pressed DVD or CD of course).

    Have you any idea which type of CD-ROM may work?

    I tried Verbatim, TDK and others but still not success (VCD format, audio CD format). On CD-RW medium it both works. May it depend on colour (type) of dye...?

    it seems that it might have some kind of copy protection (don't ask) and therefore when it sees colour other than silver, it refuses to read it. Anyway, you can try with SmartBuy black www.smartbuydisc.com They are rather cheep, and also have black sided CD-R (different from green/gold/blue bckgnd) It might work...
    It works with CD-RW because it has silver background (Molibden metal alloy) but "protected" with dimmed gray background.
    ...this MIGHT not be the best picture that I have...

          yeah, right, but as I get it there is a problem even with audio CD's;
          and he also said that if he burns VCD on CR-RW it DOES work

              Have you tried turning down your burn speed?

                That might help, since the lower the speed is, the "harder" the pits on groove (on CD) are printed. Maybe Laser on your DVD can't distinguish "burned" surface (zero's) from non burned suface (one's) on disc. High speed CD-R's are designed for faster burning, but that also produces low difference from burned and non-burned surfaces, thus requiring more sensitive Laser for recognizing (reading) CD's...

                  Burning slower just reduces the probability of error like he has. I would try burning at 8X then try that

                    he has no errors, his DVD can't even read the discs
                    Anyway another try would be Verbatim music discs; they have higher reflection, and can be burned at max 16X. Try burning at 2X (or 1X) which might help

                      Surprisingly my Lite on drive won't burn any slower than 8x

                        Depending on the software it is possible. Unfortunatelly I've come accross one so far, CloneCD. It allows you to burn at exactly selected speeds (!even 1x!). I said unfortunately, because it can only DUPLICATE (clone) discs, it can't burn, like, new compilation from HDD...
                        However, it's actually one of rare copy-type software that doesn't care about data protection

                          I tried music disc (even if not Verbatim) but without success. I always burn 4x (on Lite-on 24x/10x/40x) with Nero.
