.avi to mpg

Hello,

maybe someone can help

i'm trying to convert a .avi-movie to .mpg via TMPGenc for use on a standalone DVD-player. Worked well, but: The .avi size was 600 an some MB, now on the .mpg file i have a size of over 3GB. How is this possible ans what can be done?

You have to convert the file to MPEG1-Video CD format ("VCD), not simply MPEG-1 or MPEG-2.

I'd suggest that you download and install the most recent version of TMPGEnc (V.2.5), which includes an onscreen "Wizard" for creating various formats.

VCDs usually are approximately twice the size of the DivX-encoded .AVi files from which they've been converted.
