Unable to play divX, mpg & vcd on TV

    HI
I'm new to the world of digital video, can anyone help me with this "strange" problem:

When I'm playing divX, mpg & vcd movies from my laptop on the TV the player window is black (doesn't show any image). The desktop is displayed perfectly on the TV screen and the sound works fine, but the video screen is black.
All these video formats play perfectly on the computer screen.
Original DVD disks work and some other "home made" file formats than listed above. (I'm not sure which).

Any comments, suggestions, ideas would be welcomed.

    -cheers

    Some tech info:
The TV is connencted to the laptops S-video out plug using the S-video in plug on the TV set.
I'm running windowsXP and I have divX bundle 5.03 installed.
I have tried to use powerDVD, RadLight, winDVD and WMP.
I have a hp pavilion ze4220 (the graphics card is "ATI MOBILITY RADEON").

I have an ATi AIW 8500DV and to play movies on a TV I need to make the TV the primary display and the monitor to be the second display. So when I'm playing movies on the TV, the monitor doesnt show the video.

As far as I know TVtool is was written specifically for nVidia cards and chipsets, so they might not work on ATI.
It has to be the settings of your TV card though, absolutely nothing to do wtih codecs (as they play fine on the screen)
Try to do a net search on "ATI Radeon TV-out overlay"

Problem solved (by setting the TV as the primary display)

                Thanks a lot guys.
