XviD Playback problems

I have a few Xvid videos that have been giving me some problems. I have nimocodec 5.0 build 7 basic installed. The videos are jumping like theres way too many frames per second. I opened the file up in that gpot program i heard about on this site and it said the video required Xvid. So I downloaded the lastest version of Xvid and installed it and it made the playback even worse. Not only does the video jump, but now it looks more like I'm trying to watch something scrambled on Veiwers Choice and it will hang less then a minute in. I've been uninstalling and installing different codecs like mad trying to get it to work but all my efforts have ended in failure. If anybody has any ideas on how to fix my problem, it would be greatly appreciated.
